AJIHL NATIONAL JUNIOR LEAGUE KICKS OFF IN PERTH

The Australian Junior Ice Hockey League 2013/14 Season is well underway with two Perth teams, the Sharks and the Pelicans in the thick of it. The teams rosters are here. They played for the first time against each other at Xtreme Ice Arena, Mirrabooka, on Monday 21 Oct. Have aq look at all the statistics of the games since here on Pointstreak.
In a thrilling first game, the evenly matched teams battled to 4-4 in the third, before the Sharks put one away to go up 5-4 on the Pelicans, ending with another on the empty net and 30 seconds to go. The 6-4 result was cheered on by a full stand of vocal and enthusiastic parents, friends and players from other leagues.
There are six league teams in the AJIHL. From Melbourne, comes the Whalers and the Glaciers. Sydney is putting the Wold Pack and the Sabres on ice. A preview of the gallery of jerseys can be seen here.
The schedule has each team playing 15 games; Melbourne Whalers and Glaciers visited Perth 7/8 December for four games and the Sydney Wolfpack and Sabres will follow on 1/2 February 2014. On he same weekend of 14/15 December , the Perth Pelicans contested in Sydney, while the Perth Sharks took on the ice in Melbourne.
In each State, the winner of the Semifinal in February will represent their City in the playoffs. The three teams will play the finals in the Medibank Icehouse in Melbourne's Docklands precinct on 8/9 March 2014.
